As we enter our second week of Ironstone Impact, we are happy to announce that we are donating $10,000 to My Sisters’ Place.
My Sisters’ Place is a safe, welcoming and inclusive centre that supports women through drop-in and wrap-around services. Developed with input from women of lived experience, the centre offers a comprehensive multi-disciplinary support system with the capacity to deliver practical needs, specialized services and education/skills development.
“We recognize the outstanding work that My Sisters’ Place is doing to provide an inclusive centre for women to seek services. With the current housing supply shortage that London is facing, it’s important now more than ever that women in the community have access to a safe space,” says Dave Stimac, Ironstone President & Co-founder.
As our community voted recipient of the Ironstone Impact donation last year, we learned that our donation helped My Sisters’ Place support over 3000 people per month with basic needs, snacks and meals. This year our donation will go towards supporting the people who come to their program for meals, basic needs, harm reduction supplies, and to those that visit the center looking for a connection to much needed mental health, addiction and housing services.
“Many of the women who come to My Sisters’ Place experience multiple vulnerabilities including gender based violence, trauma, chronic mental and physical health challenges, homelessness or housing instability, substance use, and extreme poverty. We appreciate Ironstone’s commitment to support these most vulnerable individuals in our community,” says Karna Trentman, Director of Community Services at CMHA Middlesex.
We are grateful for the impact that the team at My Sisters’ Place is making within London and look forward to seeing their upcoming projects in 2022.
